School Rules

Parents and students are advised to read the contents of the Almanac carefully and abide by the rules laid down by the school authorities strictly.

1. Students must carry the Almanac to school daily.
2. Students will not be allowed to enter the school on short leave. In case of a medical or any other emergency, the student may be allowed to leave the school. A gate pass will be issued from the office of the Vice Principal. The student must be accompanied by a parent or an authorised person.
3. Students who come to school on their own must reach the school punctually. The school gate will close at 7:20 a.m. (summer timings) and 8:00 a.m. (winter timings). Late arrivals will be sent home immediately. Habitual latecomers will invite disciplinary action as deemed fit by the school authorities.
4. Parents and guardians are not permitted to enter the school premises during school hours without a prior appointment. Appointments may be fixed by telephone at 011-43399200 / 241 or through the official email address provided on the school website.
5. Students are not allowed to bring mobile phones to school. Once confiscated, such items will not be returned. Electronic watches and all other electronic devices are strictly prohibited. Students must not carry any electronic communication device capable of storing, recording, playing audio-visual content, transmitting or receiving images, or providing unfiltered internet access, such as iPads, pen drives, DVD/CD players, gaming consoles, handheld PCs, smartphones, laptops, tablets, or similar gadgets. Unmonitored use of any electronic device is strictly prohibited as per CBSE directions.
6. Students must not bring cigarettes, e-cigarettes, e-hookah, deodorants, perfumes, explosive materials, crackers, sharp tools, or knives to school. Parents are advised to check their ward’s school bag before departure. Non-compliance will invite strict disciplinary action.
7. Buying, selling, or using e-cigarettes, hookah, tobacco, vape products, or similar substances in or within a 100-yard radius of the school campus is strictly prohibited and punishable under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
8. Complaints related to bullying, smoking, or sexual abuse may be lodged at the email IDs provided under Safety and Security (Page 26). Complaint boxes are also available within the school premises.
9. Students may avail of the Accidental Insurance facility provided by the school.
10. Changing classrooms between periods must be done in an orderly and silent manner. Students should not leave the classroom unnecessarily at the end of every period.
11. Students are advised to use the washrooms during the home room period or change of periods and must return to class within two minutes. In emergencies, students must inform the concerned teacher and return within two to three minutes.
12. No books other than textbooks or library books, and no magazines, should be brought to school.
13. Lending or borrowing of money or articles is strictly prohibited.
14. Students who come escorted must not leave the school before the escort arrives. In case of delay, they must report to the school security officer at the reception.
15. Students are not permitted to use the school telephone. In emergencies, the Class Teacher, Representatives, or Coordinators will contact parents at the earliest.
16. Celebration of birthdays or festivals within the school campus is not permitted. Parents should not send cakes, sweets, or gifts. Birthday bumps are a punishable offence.
17. Staff and students must follow the Green Rules to maintain clean and green surroundings. Littering with disposable tumblers, papers, polythene bags, or single-use plastic items is strictly prohibited.
18. Students must keep classrooms, school buildings, and the campus clean. Waste must be disposed of in dustbins. Plucking or damaging plants and flowers is prohibited.
19. Students are expected to respect school property. No student should damage / be involved in damaging any school furniture; write or draw anything on the walls or in any way damage things belonging to others. Any damage—intentional or accidental—must be reported immediately to the Class Teacher, Class Representatives, Coordinators, Vice Principals, or Principal.
20. DPS Mathura Road students must be polite at all times and remember that their conduct reflects the image of the school. Students should greet teachers whenever they meet them.
21. Proper care of Smart Boards must be ensured. Students must not tamper with them. The class will be collectively responsible for any damage caused.
22. Damaging RFID card readers or CCTV cameras is strictly prohibited and will invite severe disciplinary action.
23. The school is not responsible for loss of personal belongings. Students are advised not to bring valuable items such as expensive watches, jewellery, cash, or costly stationery.
24. DPS Mathura Road provides education from Pre-School to Class XII. Seniors are expected to treat juniors with care and affection, while juniors must show respect towards seniors.
25. School fees must be paid by cheque, demand draft, or online within the stipulated time.
26. Students are not permitted to visit kiosks outside the school premises. Violations will attract punishment as per school rules.
27. Students using the school bus must maintain discipline. Indiscipline will lead to withdrawal of bus facilities. Refer to Transport Rules in the Almanac. Students indulging in aggressive or violent behaviour will not be allowed to use the school bus and must be dropped and picked up by parents.
28. A clinic proforma duly signed by the Class Teacher or Subject Teacher must be carried by students visiting the clinic during school hours.
29. Vaccination records must be submitted at the beginning of the academic session.
30. Canteen facilities are available only during break time or after school hours (subject to prevailing conditions).
31. Students must comply with all instructions issued by school authorities at all times.
32. Children are not allowed to take photographs of any friend or student, teacher, Vice Principals or Principal in the school campus without his/her prior permission. They are not allowed to upload any such material on any social site without prior permission of the concerned student or teacher.
33. Use of unfair means during examinations will invite disciplinary action as decided by the school authorities.
34. The school reserves the right to suspend or take strict disciplinary action against any student whose academic progress is unsatisfactory or whose conduct is detrimental to others.

Prohibited Practices (As per Directorate of Education) No student shall indulge in the following:

1. Absence from classes without permission
2. Misbehaviour towards teachers or school staff
3. Disobedience of lawful instructions
4. Intentional disturbance of classes
5. Eve-teasing or misbehaviour towards girl students
6. Bringing unauthorised persons or articles into the school
7. Acts of moral turpitude or behaviour unbecoming of a student
8. Carrying or using mobile phones
9. Misuse of Smart Boards
10. Use of motor vehicles such as scooters or mopeds and bringing them to school
11. Theft or pilferage of school or student property
12. Propagating strikes or disruption of classes
13. Association with banned organisations
14. Spitting or littering on school premises
15. Disfiguring or damaging school property
16. Writing on uniforms
17. Smoking or consumption of harmful substances such as gutka or pan masala
18. Gambling in any form
19. Use of drugs or intoxicants (vaping strictly prohibited)
20. Rowdy or rude behaviour
21. Violence or bullying in any form (physical or verbal) which may harm any student physically or mentally
22. Cybercrime
23. Discrimination based on caste, religion, or practice of untouchability
24. Bursting crackers or throwing colours within the school premises
25. Bunking classes

All the above acts are strictly forbidden. In case of misconduct, the Principal/HOS shall take appropriate action based on the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee. Observance of discipline and good conduct is essential for a student’s continuation in the school. In case of breach of discipline by a student, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken as specified under Disciplinary Measures on Page 25.

4. As per CBSE norms, it is illegal to bring a mobile phone to school and once it is confiscated it will not be returned to the student or his/her parent. If the student is caught with the mobile phone for the second time, besides seizure of the mobile phone, he/she will be rusticated. Even electronic watches and other electronic devices are banned in the school.
5. The students are not permitted to carry electronic communication devices including those that can store/record/play audio-visual content; transmit or receive images; or provide unfiltered connection to the Internet such as I-Pads, Pen drives DVD/CD players, game consoles, handheld PC, smartphones, laptops, tablet or any other gadget with similar capabilities of data storage/transmission. It is reiterated that unmonitored use of any electronic communication device is strictly prohibited in school as per the direction of CBSE.
6. The parents can lodge complaints pertaining to bullying, smoking and sexual abuse or any other anti-social activity, through email. The Complaint Boxes have also been installed in the school premises.
7. The students can avail the ‘Accidental Insurance’ facility provided by the school.
8. Students should not unnecessarily leave their class at the end of every period. The movement to different venues should be done in an orderly manner and silently.
9. No books (other than textbooks or library books) or magazines should be brought to the school.
10. Lending or borrowing money or other articles is not allowed.
11. Students who come to school escorted should never leave before the escort arrives. In case of delay, they should report to the school security officer at the reception.

13. Students are not allowed to use the school telephone. However, in case of an emergency, the Class Teacher/ Reps / Coordinators will contact the parents at the earliest.
14. The school does not permit the celebration of birthdays or festivals in the school campus. Parents are advised not to send sweets, cakes etc. with children for the celebration of birthdays. Exchange of gifts is also not allowed. Birthday bumps are a punishable offence.
15. The school insists on the following measures to be observed by the members of staff and all students. Care must be taken to observe the “Green Rules” in order to maintain clean and green surroundings i.e. the school premises should not be littered with disposable tumblers, papers or polythene bags. If polythene bags are brought to school, care should be taken not to throw them on the school grounds. Minimal use of polythene bags will be appreciated.
16. Students are advised to keep their classroom, school building and campus clean, and throw leftovers into the dustbins. They should not spoil or pluck flowers.
17. Students are expected to respect school property.
1. No student should damage any school furniture.
2. They must not write anything on walls or doors.
3. They should not tamper with smartboards and projectors. The students of the class will be responsible to pay for the damage.
4. Students are prohibited from damaging the RFID gate readers and CCTV cameras installed in the school premises.
5. They must not damage/ break things belonging to others.
6. Such misconduct would invite strict disciplinary action. Any school property damaged even by accident should be reported at once to the Class Teacher/ Headmistress/ Vice-Principals.
18. Delhi Public School students should invariably be polite wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet their teachers when they meet them.
19. Students are not allowed to bring any sharp instruments such as knives, blades, sharp-edged tools, etc. to the school, or any kind of object which may cause injury to others.
20. Buying and using e-cigarettes/hookah/tobacco in the school campus is totally banned. If somebody is found carrying these items, strict disciplinary action will be taken.
21. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches/ fountain pens, cash, jewellery/bracelets/ear studs etc.) to school. The school is not responsible for goods lost.
22. DPS provides education from Pre-school to Class XII. Therefore, it is expected that the juniors be treated with love and affection, while the juniors must show respect to their seniors.
23. Fee can be paid by cheque/draft or online within the stipulated time.
24. No student should indulge in any of the following practices:
• Absence from classes without the permission of the teacher / Headmistress/ Vice Principals
• Misbehaviour towards teachers or any other employee of the school
• Disobeying rules/ orders of the teacher / Headmistress/ Vice Principals / Principal
• Intentional disturbance of classes
• Eve-teasing/misbehaviour towards girl students
• Bringing unauthorized people/articles inside the school
• Indulging in acts of moral turpitude.
• Use of motor vehicles like scooter / moped etc. by the students and bringing these in the school
• Theft of school/students’ property
• Propagating a strike/disruption of classes
• Association with banned organizations
• Spitting and littering in the school premises
• Writing on the shirts/ uniform
• Smoking or having gutka, pan masala etc
• Any form of gambling
• Use of drugs or intoxicants-vaping is strictly prohibited
• Rude behaviour
• Use of violence / or bullying in any form (physical/verbal), which may harm any student physically or mentally
• Any form of cyber-crime
• Discrimination of any kind –gender, caste,religion, disability, race, etc
• Bursting crackers or throwing colour on one another within the school premises
• Bunking classes
25. No student is allowed to visit any of the kiosks situated outside the school within school hours, and if found doing so, he/she will be subjected to punishment as per school rules.
26. Students indulging in aggressive or violent behaviour, will not be allowed to travel by school bus.They will be picked and dropped at school by their parents.
27. A clinic proforma from CT/Subject Teacher signed by the teacher (in charge of a period) must be carried by a child going to the clinic for treatment.
28. A vaccination record must be produced as and when required.
29. To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, please adhere to the following guidelines if your child is unwell or exhibits symptoms of any communicable disease:
• Notify the school immediately if your child has been diagnosed with a communicable disease. This allows the school to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of infection.
• If your child shows symptoms of a communicable disease (e.g., fever, rash, cough,vomiting, diarrhea, or red eyes), please keep them at home until they are fully recovered.
• Please provide a medical fitness certificate from a qualified doctor, certifying that the child is no longer contagious.
30. The canteen facility is only available during break time or after school hours (subject to the prevailing conditions)
31. The students are not allowed to carry more than Rs 100/- for the canteen. The students can carry money for the canteen as per the given schedule

Class-III Wednesday
Class-IV Monday & Thursday
Class V Tuesday & Friday

32. Students will not boycott the orders, directions and instructions given to them by the school authorities.
33. Children are not allowed to take photographs or to make videos of any friend or student, teacher, HM,VP or Principal in the school campus without his/her prior permission. They are not allowed to upload photographs or videos on any social site without prior permission of the Vice Principal/Principal.
34. Students using unfair means during the examination will face disciplinary action as decided by the school authorities.

Late Arrivals in School

1. Students must reach the school in time.The school gates will close at 7:20 AM (summer timings) and 7:35 AM (winter timings).
2. Late arrivals will be sent home immediately.

Punishment

1. Rule violation will lead to appropriate action from the disciplinary committee.
2. Breaking or violating any other rule, the punishment for which is not prescribed here, will be a matter or decision of the school authority after observing the gravity of the conduct and behaviour of the student in the past.The punishment imposed will be final.
3. The school reserves the right to suspend or to take strict disciplinary action against a student whose conduct is harmful to other students/ staff members.

Note:

1. In case of violation of Rules, appropriate action will be taken. In case of a severe act of indiscipline, the child will be suspended /rusticated.
2. The school reserves the right to modify the rules without prior notice.

FOR THE PARENTS OF PRE PRIMARY WING

1. The child must always wear the RFID card giving information about his/her name, class, address, telephone number and blood group.
2. Please try to send the same person everyday for self-pick up students. They should reach school ten minutes before the bell.
3. Please donot take your child back from school during teaching hours .If you have some plan for the day ,kindly do not send the child to school on that day.
4. The bag, napkin, mat, apron, water bottle etc. carried by the child should have his/her name, class and section written on it, and must be carried everyday.
5. We request you to send an extra undergarment and an extra pair of clothes in the bag everyday. It will be used in case the child accidentally soils his/her clothes.
6. No sweets/chocolates allowed for birthdays. Gift, if any should not exceed ₹20.
7. You may meet your ward’s class teacher only after taking a prior appointment with her.
8. The child is allowed to wear casual clothes every Friday w.e.f 3rd july 2026.
