POCSO Act

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, provides protection to children from sexual abuse and prescribes punishment in the form of imprisonment and fines for sexual offences against children. Measures taken by the school as proposed by CBSE include:

1. Sensitisation of management and staff regarding the provisions of the POCSO Act
2. Self-defence training programmes for girls
3. Appropriate training for staff to understand and fulfil their responsibilities in protecting children from abuse
4. Police verification and psychometric evaluation of all teaching and non-teaching staff, including bus drivers, conductors, and support staff
5. Installation of CCTV cameras across the campus
6. Constitution of a parent–teacher–student committee to address student safety concerns
7. Monthly safety audits of the school premises conducted by parent representatives and personnel from local police stations
8. Display of toll-free numbers and child helpline details on notice boards, along with the names of designated teachers to handle such cases
9. Controlled access to the school building for outsiders and monitoring of visitors through a surveillance system at the main gate
10. Regular workshops to sensitise students against inappropriate behaviour and encourage immediate reporting of incidents

6. Constitution of parent-teacher–students committee for safety needs of the students.
7. Monthly safety audit of the school premises by the parent representatives and personnel from local police stations.
8. Display of toll-free number and child helpline on the notice board with the names of the teacher designated to handle such cases.
9. Controlled access to school building by outsiders and monitoring of visitors through surveillance system installed at the Main Gate.
10. Sensitisation of students against undue sexual advances through regularly conducted workshops.
